February has been a busy month for us here at YPPG.
On February 18th, YPPG members joined with #GetOrganizedBK for a meeting on civic activism and voting rights. We heard local state assemblymembers and district managers speak about their work in the statehouse fighting for progressive reform, and we engaged with local New Yorkers in a dialogue on voting rights reform ideas that we all can fight for.
On Thursday, February 23rd, we heard Assemblyman Robert Carroll, Assemblywoman Jo Ann Simon, NYC Councilman Carlos Menchaca, and our very own Eli Frankel speak at this month's Central Brooklyn Independent Democrats (CBID) meeting. Eli spoke about our plans to lobby the legislature to lower the age of voter pre-registration, and was well-received by CBID's members.
We met with Assemblyman Robert Carroll in his Brooklyn office on Friday, February 24th. We spoke about the Assemblyman's plans to introduce several voting rights reform bills in the coming weeks, and developed a plan for youth lobbying in Albany in the coming weeks. Make sure to check in later for our progress.
